Prof. Dr. Burcu Balçık Attends EURO Conference as Keynote Speaker Representing Özyeğin University

Prof. Dr. Burcu Balçık from the Industrial Engineering Department gave a keynote speech at the 32nd EURO conference that took place on July 3-6 at Aalto University in Finland. Around 3000 researchers participated in the conference organized by The Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO) whose aim is to promote Operational Research throughout Europe.

In her talk titled "Challenges and Opportunities for Operations Research to Improve Humanitarian Decision Making and Collaboration", Prof. Balçık gave an overview of research studies that focus on humanitarian operations and applications, highlighted the need for increasing the number of collaborative studies between academia and other stakeholders to address the big challenges currently facing the world, and stressed the importance of improving the accessibility of scientific research in this area.
