Özyeğin University Faculty Member Dr. Kadir Durak Attends INSC in Pakistan As Keynote Speaker

Dr. Kadir Durak, a faculty member at the Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department at Özyeğin University, delivered a keynote speech at the session “Quantum Optics and Devices ” during the 48th International Nathiagali Summer Colleges on Physics and Contemporary Needs held in Pakistan from July 17 through July 22, 2023. Previously in 2022, Dr. Durak had also attended the same event as a keynote speaker.

The INSC was founded by Dr. Abdus Salam, Nobel laureate in Physics, in 1976 to promote physics and scientific research activities in Pakistan. Since then, the INSC has been organized annually to bring together physicists and other scientists in developing countries with eminent international faculty members. Assistant Prof. Kadir Durak’s keynote speech addressed key topics during the 2023 Summer Colleges event, including the quantum world of cold atoms, enhancement of atom-light interaction strength by improving the localization of the atom, enhancement of atom-light interaction strength by engineering the spectral and temporal profiles of the photons, and the CubeSat-compatible warm atom-based quantum memory. Dr. Durak will also attend the “Space Quantum Internet” workshop to be organized by the International Network in Space Quantum Technologies (INSQT) at Humboldt University of Berlin from August 30 through September 1, 2023 as one of the distinguished invited speakers, including Mete Atatüre from the University of Cambridge.
